I am inspired by a few texts that I will be reviewing as an inspiration for this research.

Project on the City II: The Harvard Guide to Shopping by Rem KoolHaas. “I am convinced that the kind of settlement now being designed and built all around the globe can no longer be called ‘city;’ it is another condition,” Koolhaas wrote this in an article in the winter/spring 1996 issue of the GSD News.

Walter Benjamin’s The Arcades Project.

The Poetics of Space by Gaston Bachelard

We currently see surrounding structures being demolished and new buildings replacing them on a daily basis. Every bike ride, car ride, and bus commute has a view of a building being torn down, built, or rebuilt. One hears the sounds of demolition and construction everywhere.

Untold stories of past communities are being wiped out with these new structures. I would like to pose the question:  Are we on a 100-year cycle? Are politics in the US going backwards to 1917-1919?

What is the new historic city plan? What is going to be our new Identity in 2 years? What is our city going to look like? Is it going to be a tourist temporal culture?
